Jeju Bamboo Extract

AU-JEJU JORI name ‘Joritdae’ comes from the ancient use of tree trunks to make ‘Jori’, a tool used to cook rice or drain water. The bamboo plant is also called mountain bamboo, jjijuk, coarse bamboo, Ip bamboo, bamboo leaf, dam bamboo leaf, and imha bamboo. It grows in the southern and central regions of Korea and the Far East Asia region, which includes Japan and China. Since ancient times, bamboo shoots have been known to reduce fever, clear the lungs, and stop bleeding. They have anticancer, detoxifying, and antibacterial effects and are used for malignant tumors, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, and tonsillitis. Bamboo has a sweet taste and cold properties, so it is said to be effective if you consistently drink the leaves, stems, and roots (Encyclopedia of Korean Herbal Medicine, Korean Resource Plant Research Institute, Dictionary of Natural Products).

Bamboo is recorded as a medicinal herb with properties that surpass those of ginseng (Donguibogam, Benchogangmok, Shennongchobongyeong) and is known to be effective in treating atopic dermatitis and inflammation. It has an excellent antibacterial effect and is used as a food wrapping material in Japan. It is also sold as a deodorant (toothpaste), soap, and in anti-cancer products. Additionally, since ancient times, the inner bark of the bamboo pole was called bamboo leaf, and the leaves were also referred to as bamboo leaf, used as folk medicine.
